Srinagar, Sep 16: The All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) has raised concerns over alleged disparities in postgraduate stipends in Jammu and Kashmir compared with other states, as well as differences in payments between SKIMS and government medical colleges across the Union Territory.

Dr. Mohit Choudhary, Chief Advisor of AIMSA and a postgraduate resident at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, said the variations had led to concerns among postgraduate residents over equal compensation for their clinical duties and other responsibilities.

AIMSA has urged Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo and the Jammu and Kashmir Government to review the existing stipend structure and address the differences among institutions.

The association has called for a uniform and equitable stipend policy for postgraduate residents serving in government medical institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.

AIMSA said postgraduate residents undertake extensive clinical duties and other responsibilities as part of their medical training and has sought government intervention to ensure equitable treatment across institutions.
