Charari Sharief, Sep 26: Senior Leader of Awami Ittehad Party, Javed Hubi, has appealed to the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways for the early sanction and implementation of the four-lane road from Srinagar to Yousmarg via Charar-i-Sharief.
He said the R&B Department has already submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project, and the people are hopeful that the Ministry will take timely action to approve and execute it.
Highlighting the importance of the route, Javed Hubi stated that Charar-i-Sharief is a revered spiritual centre while Yousmarg is a globally acclaimed tourist destination, both attracting thousands of visitors and devotees every year. However, the existing road remains narrow, unsafe, and insufficient for the increasing traffic load.
Hubi emphasized that upgrading the road to a four-lane will boost tourism and the horticulture-driven local economy. Prevent frequent traffic jams and reduce accidents. Provide faster access to healthcare, education, and business hubs. Strengthen Budgam’s integration with the national development framework.
“The submission of the DPR by the R&B Department is a clear step forward. What is now needed is swift approval and allocation of funds so that work can start without delay,” he added.
