Air Force Airlifts 260 Stranded Passengers in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh

The Indian Air Force (IAF) airlifted 260 stranded passengers on Monday between Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This new service, (Kargil Courier), has already rescued a total of 1,551 passengers since its launch on January 22.
 
An official said  that the Kargil Courier, operated by the AN-32 aircraft, has been an indispensable lifeline for the stranded passengers, especially after the closure of the Srinagar-Leh national highway due to heavy snowfall. 
 
He said the service operates three days a week between Jammu and Srinagar, and twice a week between Srinagar and Kargil.
 
While providing details about today's development, the official said that on Monday, a total of 113 passengers were airlifted from Srinagar to Kargil, while another 93 were rescued from Jammu to Kargil. He said, 38 passengers were uplifted from Kargil to Srinagar, and 16 from Kargil to Jammu in separate aircrafts.
 
The official said that the Kargil Courier has proven to be a lifeline for those stranded in the region, ensuring their safe transportation despite the challenging weather conditions.
