HM will review security, developmental works in J&K
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Kashmir next month to review the security situation and developmental works being carried out under the Prime Minister’s Development Package for the Union Territory.
The visit comes as the security situation has relatively stabilised in Kashmir which had been hit by a spate of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits, minorities and migrant workers who come to work in the Valley from different parts of the country.
According to sources, the Home Minister is likely to review the security situation especially in Kashmir in a high level meeting with top security agencies and he may also visit north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports said Shah will address a mega rally in Baramulla and he may also announce a package for OBCs and Pahari community.
A news agency reported that the Home Minister will visit Baramulla on October 2 and address the massive public rally of OBCs and Pahari community people there.
“He will announce a package for the OBCs and Pahari’s,” the source said.
According to reports, the Home Minister is likely to visit Srinagar where he is expected to lay the foundation for the cancer hospital for which the Waqf board has identified land at Eidgah area of Srinagar.
Shah is also scheduled to meet J&K LG Manoj Sinha and top security officials of the UT. He may also review the security situation in Kashmir.
According to reports, Shah will also review the ongoing developmental projects taken up by the central government in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370.
Last month, Shah had directed the security forces to continue their efforts to wipe out terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. At a review meeting in New Delhi on the security situation in J&K, the Home Minister said the terrorist eco-system comprising elements that aid, abet and sustain the terrorists and separatists requires to be dismantled.
"Union Home Minister asked security forces and the police to continue with the coordinated efforts through meticulous and well-planned counter-terrorism operations to wipe out terrorism. He also said people of Jammu and Kashmir would decisively defeat the proxy war with the help of security forces," an official statement said.
