
Kohima, Oct 23: Assam Rifles organised a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony to honor Subedar (Late) Bir Bahadur Thapa, who laid down his life during the Battle of Asaphila in the 1962 Chinese aggression. The ceremony paid tribute to his extraordinary bravery and supreme sacrifice in defending the post alongside nineteen courageous soldiers, including Subedar Bir Lal Rai.
Despite being heavily outnumbered, the defenders exhibited exceptional courage and unwavering determination, fighting valiantly until the end. The ceremony underscored the highest traditions of the Armed Forces and highlighted Assam Rifles’ commitment to remembering and honoring the gallantry of its heroes. Senior officials and personnel participated, reaffirming respect for the sacrifices made by soldiers to safeguard the nation.
