Manipur, Sep 28: Assam Rifles achieved a major milestone in strengthening digital infrastructure in remote border areas with the inauguration of a Swadeshi 4G mobile network at its Modi Garrison in Chandel District, Manipur, on September 27, 2025. The initiative, implemented in collaboration with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), aims to enhance both operational communications and welfare connectivity for troops stationed in strategically sensitive regions.

The network was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Jharsuguda, Odisha. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of technological self-reliance and digital empowerment for India’s border security forces, aligning with the broader national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The Swadeshi 4G network is expected to provide seamless connectivity for operational command, emergency coordination, and morale-boosting communication for troops deployed in remote locations. It also ensures that personnel can stay connected with their families, access essential services, and benefit from modern digital tools in daily life.
