In a heartfelt celebration of Teacher’s Day, Assam Rifles organized a special programme at Khangsillung Government Higher Secondary School, Gaidimjang, aimed at honoring educators and promoting environmental responsibility among students.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 200 students and 15 teachers, who gathered to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India and a great teacher himself. Assam Rifles personnel delivered a motivational lecture on the role of teachers in nation-building, character formation, and guiding youth towards a better future.
The highlight of the event was a tree plantation drive, where students, teachers, and Assam Rifles soldiers collectively planted saplings in and around the school campus. This initiative not only paid tribute to teachers but also carried a strong message about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.
The programme helped strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the local community, particularly the education sector, and encouraged young minds to take active roles in protecting nature while valuing their educators.
The school authorities expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for their continuous support and community engagement initiatives, especially in remote areas like Gaidimjang.
