to promote patriotism Under Har Ghar Tiranga campaign
As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign commemorating India’s 79th Independence Day, the Assam Rifles organised a vibrant and energetic ‘Run for Fun’ event in Mokokchung district, Nagaland, on Tuesday.
The event was aimed at instilling a sense of patriotism, unity, and collective spirit among the citizens while celebrating the spirit of freedom. The initiative brought together a diverse group of participants, including Assam Rifles personnel, students from the Havildar Mering Ao (Retd) Centre of Excellence and Wellness, and family members of the troops.
Starting from the Assam Rifles camp and traversing key routes in Mokokchung town, the run echoed with chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram", as participants proudly waved the Tricolour. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and national fervor as local residents also lined the streets to cheer the runners on.
Commanding Officers of the Assam Rifles lauded the high spirits of the participants and reaffirmed the force's commitment to building strong bonds with local communities while promoting national unity.
"The ‘Run for Fun’ was not just a fitness activity, but a celebration of our shared identity and a tribute to our freedom fighters. The involvement of local youth and families shows the strength of our unity," said a senior officer from the organising unit.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, an initiative under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes, institutions, and public spaces from August 13 to 15, reinforcing their connection to the nation’s history and sacrifices.
Events like the Run for Fun highlight the Assam Rifles’ continued role not just in national security, but also in fostering community engagement and national pride, particularly in the northeast region
