Manipur, Jan 15: The Assam Rifles organized a solemn wreath-laying ceremony in Manipur to honor the memory of Rifleman Brajanabi Sharma, who was mortally wounded during an encounter with insurgents near Kaimai, Jiribam, on January 11, 1998, and succumbed to his injuries three days later on January 14, 1998.

The ceremony, attended by senior officials and 102 personnel of the Assam Rifles, served as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Rfn Sharma. Participants paid homage by laying wreaths at a designated memorial site and offered a formal Guard of Honour, symbolizing respect and remembrance for the fallen soldier.
Speaking on the occasion, senior officers highlighted the courage and dedication of Rfn Sharma, emphasizing that his sacrifice exemplifies the commitment of the Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and security in the region. They reaffirmed the force’s continued resolve to protect citizens while honoring the legacy of personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
