Kangpokpi, Feb 10: In a significant humanitarian initiative, the Assam Rifles distributed essential supplies to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Shonglong-I village in Kangpokpi district on 10 February 2026. The drive was organized as part of the paramilitary force’s ongoing outreach programs to support communities affected by communal unrest in the region.

During the distribution, Assam Rifles personnel handed over essential items including food grains, clothing, blankets, hygiene kits, and other basic necessities to the affected families. Speaking on the occasion, a senior officer of Assam Rifles emphasized the organization’s role not only in maintaining security but also in fostering peace and supporting vulnerable communities. “Our primary goal is to protect lives and restore a sense of normalcy for those displaced. Initiatives like these reflect our continued dedication to serving the people and alleviating their hardships,” the officer said.
Villagers expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles, acknowledging the timely support and relief.
