April 05, 2026 | BK News Service

Aizawal, April 4: Assam Rifles, under the operational umbrella of SpearCorps, successfully conducted a rigorous Rock Craft Training programme at Vaphai, Mizoram, from 16 March to 4 April 2026. The training aimed to enhance the tactical and operational capabilities of troops in challenging and rugged terrains typical of the northeastern region.

The comprehensive programme focused on developing proficiency in key mountain warfare skills, including rappelling, rock climbing, advanced rope techniques, and casualty evacuation under difficult conditions. Troops underwent extensive practical drills designed to simulate real-life scenarios, ensuring they can respond swiftly and efficiently during operations in hilly and rocky landscapes.
Apart from technical climbing and rope-handling exercises, the training emphasized teamwork, endurance, and situational awareness. Troops were also trained in rapid casualty evacuation methods, allowing them to render medical assistance and safely transport injured personnel from inaccessible terrain—a critical skill for operations in remote areas.
The programme not only honed individual skills but also strengthened unit cohesion, enabling teams to coordinate effectively under physically demanding and high-pressure environments. The use of modern climbing gear and adherence to stringent safety protocols ensured that training was both effective and safe.
Commanders highlighted that such specialized training reinforces the Assam Rifles’ operational readiness and underscores their capability to conduct swift, precise, and resilient operations in challenging terrains. By equipping troops with advanced mountain warfare skills, SpearCorps ensures that the force remains agile, combat-ready, and fully capable of safeguarding national security in the northeastern frontier.
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of SpearCorps to develop a highly skilled, versatile, and self-reliant force, capable of executing complex operations in some of India’s most demanding landscapes.
