Guwahati, Sep 13: Marking World First Aid Day, formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps conducted extensive first-aid training and life-saving awareness programmes across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland, equipping communities with essential skills to respond during medical emergencies.

The initiatives focused on building a network of capable first responders among students, youth and villagers, with participants receiving both classroom-based guidance and hands-on training.
Training sessions covered critical emergency skills, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), immediate emergency response, bleeding control and fracture management. Practical demonstrations helped participants understand how timely intervention can save lives before professional medical assistance arrives.
In Assam, the programme was held at Rupai, while in Arunachal Pradesh, awareness and training activities were conducted across Menchuka, Along, Kaying, Tuting and Hayuliang.
Similar initiatives were organised at Thoubal in Manipur and Enhulumi in Phek district of Nagaland, reaching people across diverse and often remote communities.
The programmes highlighted the importance of basic medical preparedness, particularly in areas where difficult terrain, distance and limited access to immediate healthcare can make timely emergency assistance challenging.
Through demonstrations and interactive sessions, the security forces encouraged participants to remain calm during emergencies, assess situations quickly and provide appropriate first aid until medical professionals arrive.
The outreach also reinforced the broader role of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in community engagement, extending beyond security operations to humanitarian assistance, public awareness and capacity-building.
The collaborative initiatives underscored the security forces’ commitment to building resilient communities and empowering ordinary citizens with life-saving skills, creating a stronger pool of trained first responders across the Northeast.
