May 20, 2025 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Kupwara , May 20 :  In a humanitarian gesture, the Indian Army extended timely assistance to the residents of Chota Gaon Mohalla in Ibkot village after a local masjid sustained damage due to unprovoked shelling by Pakistan.

The damage, caused during the recent cross-border shelling, damaged the roof of Mosque—specifically the corrugated galvanized iron (CGI) sheets—along with a solar plate system and the matting inside the prayer room.

The incident left the local community distressed, particularly as it impacted a central place of worship and communal gathering.

Responding swiftly, the Indian Army provided immediate support to repair the roof, restore the solar energy source, and replace the damaged matting, ensuring that the masjid could once again serve the community. The assistance was provided under the Army’s ongoing efforts to maintain peace and extend humanitarian support in border areas.

The villagers of Ibkot expressed deep gratitude to the Army for its prompt action and compassion. Community elders praised the Army's role not only in ensuring security in the region but also in standing by the people during difficult times.

This initiative highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering goodwill and reinforcing the strong bond with citizens in forward areas.
