
Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday visited units along the Line of Control in Kashmir (LoC) in north Kashmir to review the operational preparedness.
The visit of Northern Commander to LoC in Rampur Uri in Baramulla district comes five days after an infiltration bid was foiled at Hatlanga Uri in which three infiltrators were killed. After the bid was foiled, the Army said infiltrating militants received “fire support” from the Pakistan Army.
“ #LtGenUpendraDwivedi, #ArmyCdrNC visited units along the Line of Control in #Rampur and #RashtriyaRifles Battalion in #Pir Panjal Ranges to review operational preparedness. He was briefed on the Dynamic Counter Infiltration grid & the modern methods being adopted. The Army Commander interacted with troops of IA, #AssamRifles & JKP and feliciated the troops of IA & JKP for Succesful conduct of #Op KHANDA,” Army’s Northern Command said in a post on X.
The army commander’s visit to the LoC also comes after the week long gunfight between terrorists and troops in Gadole forest area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. In the gunfight six persons including three security officials and an army jawan and two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Toiba including commander were killed.
The security forces yesterday called off the search operation in the forest area.
