September 08, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Imphal, Sep 7; Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps detected and successfully neutralised an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approximately 10 kilograms in the South Thanjing forest area of Churachandpur district in Manipur.

The IED was detected during a security operation based on intelligence inputs regarding a potential threat in the area. The timely intervention by the troops prevented the explosive device from posing a danger to local residents and security personnel operating in the region.
Security forces subsequently carried out the necessary procedures to neutralise the IED and secure the surrounding area, ensuring safe movement through the affected zone.
The recovery of the sizeable explosive device assumes significance amid continuing security challenges in parts of Manipur, where forested and remote areas can be exploited to conceal weapons and explosives.
The successful operation also reflects the importance of actionable intelligence and coordinated ground-level vigilance in preventing potential attacks before they occur. The timely detection of the IED not only averted a possible incident but also helped ensure the safety of civilians and security forces.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur and protecting the lives of people in vulnerable areas. The operation further highlights the role of sustained surveillance and intelligence-based action in countering threats and maintaining secure movement across the region.
The timely neutralisation of the IED has once again demonstrated the security forces’ preparedness to respond swiftly to emerging threats and their continued resolve to safeguard civilians and maintain stability in Manipur.
