April 12, 2026 | BK News Service

Srinagar, April 11 :Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to maternal health and community welfare, Indian Army’s Chinar Corps organised a special awareness lecture titled “Health, Hygiene & Special Care during Pregnancy” on 11 April 2026 at Uri to mark National Safe Motherhood Day. The initiative sought to sensitise expectant mothers on the importance of personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, regular medical check-ups and the timely recognition of early warning signs during pregnancy, particularly in geographically remote and resource-constrained regions.

The lecture placed particular emphasis on the significance of antenatal and postnatal care, early identification of high-risk symptoms and the critical role of mental well-being during pregnancy. It also highlighted the importance of a strong family support system within the socio-cultural fabric of Kashmiri society, fostering awareness that extends beyond individuals to the community at large.
Operating in remote border areas where access to healthcare remains limited, the Indian Army continues to play a vital role in bridging critical gaps by delivering essential medical services and promoting health awareness. Residents of Salamabad and adjoining villages of Uri expressed heartfelt appreciation for Indian Army’s sustained efforts in enhancing healthcare outreach and ensuring the well-being of mothers and children, reflecting its enduring ethos of service, compassion and Nation-Building.
