Army Ordnance Corps celebrates 251st Raising Day

Dimapur, April 8: Lt Gen Abhijit S. Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of the SpearCorps, extended his warm greetings to all ranks, veterans, and families of the Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) on the occasion of its 251st Raising Day. The AOC, one of the oldest and most distinguished formations of the Indian Army, plays a vital role in ensuring operational readiness by providing essential logistics, equipment, and ammunition support to troops across all terrains.
In his message, Lt Gen Pendharkar lauded the dedication, professionalism, and selfless service of AOC personnel, emphasizing their critical role in supporting combat operations and maintaining the Army’s operational edge. “The Army Ordnance Corps has consistently demonstrated excellence in supply chain management, ordnance handling, and timely delivery of essential equipment, thereby strengthening our force’s capability to respond effectively in any scenario,” he stated.
The Raising Day commemorates over two and a half centuries of unbroken service, resilience, and commitment to the nation. Established in 1775, the Corps has been instrumental in supporting both peacetime logistics and wartime operations, ensuring that Indian soldiers remain fully equipped and battle-ready.
Veterans and serving personnel across the country joined in celebrating the day through ceremonial events, parades, and recognition of meritorious service. The occasion also highlighted the Corps’ ongoing modernization efforts, including the induction of advanced logistical systems and technology-driven inventory management to further enhance operational efficiency.
Lt Gen Pendharkar concluded by expressing pride in the Corps’ enduring legacy and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting its personnel and their families. “May the Army Ordnance Corps continue to serve with the same spirit, professionalism, and dedication, strengthening our nation’s defence capabilities for generations to come,” he added.
