November 08, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Imphal, Nov 7: A formation under the Spear Corps of the Indian Army has installed and dedicated a borewell to residents of Island Village in Imphal East district under Operation Sadbhavna, providing the village with its first-ever dedicated water source for drinking and agricultural needs.

The facility was formally handed over to the community in the presence of local farmers, community representatives and Indian Army personnel.
The borewell is expected to address a long-standing need for reliable water access in the village, benefiting households as well as farmers dependent on water for agricultural activities.
For the residents, the initiative marks an important step towards improving access to basic amenities and supporting rural livelihoods. The availability of a local water source is also expected to ease difficulties faced by villagers in meeting their daily drinking water and irrigation requirements.
The initiative under Operation Sadbhavna reflects the Indian Army's continued focus on community welfare, rural development and improving essential infrastructure in remote and underserved areas of Manipur.
The Army's outreach programmes aim to address local needs through development-oriented initiatives while strengthening its engagement with communities.
