Army saves pregnant woman in Manipur’s village

Imphal, July 1: Demonstrating its commitment to humanitarian service and community welfare, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, responded swiftly to a medical emergency involving a pregnant woman from Janglenphai village in Manipur, ensuring that she received timely medical care.

According to officials, the woman developed a medical emergency that required immediate attention. On receiving information, a dedicated team of Assam Rifles medical personnel promptly reached out and provided emergency medical assistance.
The patient was first shifted to the Keithalmanbi Garrison, where Army doctors and medical staff stabilised her condition through immediate medical intervention. After assessing her health, the medical team arranged her safe evacuation to the Government Medical College for specialised treatment and advanced obstetric care.
Officials said the timely response by the Assam Rifles played a crucial role in ensuring that the woman received prompt medical attention, significantly reducing the risks associated with the emergency.
The incident once again highlighted the vital humanitarian role played by the Assam Rifles in remote and difficult-to-access regions of the North East. Alongside its operational responsibilities, the force continues to provide critical assistance during medical emergencies, natural disasters and other humanitarian situations, particularly in areas where access to healthcare facilities remains limited.
