Itanagar, April 21: Troops of the Dao Division under Spear Corps, in coordination with the Shaurya Commando Team of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), successfully concluded a two-week Mountain Warfare Training exercise culminating in a 24-hour field exercise titled “Exercise Mountain Prahari.”
The exercise was conducted in high-altitude terrain and focused on enhancing operational readiness in mountainous and difficult geographical conditions. It aimed at refining combat drills, improving endurance, and strengthening coordination between the Indian Army and ITBP units deployed in border areas.
Throughout the training period, personnel underwent intensive field exercises involving tactical movement, survival skills, navigation in rugged terrain, and coordinated response strategies. Special emphasis was laid on joint operational procedures, rapid mobilisation, and effective communication between the two forces.
The culminating 24-hour “Exercise Mountain Prahari” tested the troops under simulated operational conditions, ensuring sustained vigilance, teamwork, and mission execution capability in challenging environments.
Officials stated that the exercise significantly enhanced inter-agency synergy, a critical component for maintaining security and operational effectiveness in the sensitive Himalayan region. It also reinforced mutual understanding and coordination between the Army and ITBP in safeguarding India’s border areas.
The successful conduct of the exercise underscores the commitment of both forces towards maintaining high levels of preparedness and ensuring robust defence readiness in high-altitude terrain.
