Kupwara, Mar 29: In a spirited celebration of women’s empowerment and sporting excellence, the Asmita Fencing League (Women) 2025–26 was successfully conducted at the Vajr Fencing Node, Maidan-e-Azam, Kupwara on 29 March 2026, under the aegis of the SFW Khelo India Initiative. The event was organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Fencing Association with support from the Sports Authority of India and the Fencing Association of India.

The two-day league brought together 63 talented female fencers from across the region, transforming Kupwara into a vibrant arena of determination, skill, and sportsmanship. Participants competed fiercely across all three disciplines—Épée, Foil, and Sabre—in the categories of U-14, U-17, U-20, and Senior (Open), displaying remarkable agility, focus, and competitive spirit.
JKFA lauded the initiative and highlighted the growing role of women in shaping the sporting landscape of the nation. Addressing the participants, they encouraged young athletes to dream big, remain resilient, and continue striving for excellence.
Building on the momentum of last year’s Gen Bipin Rawat Fencing Championship held at the same venue, which laid a strong foundation for fencing in the region, the Vajr Fencing Node has emerged as a key talent hub in North Kashmir, with eight fencers selected to represent at the UT of J&K Fencing Championship 2026.
Beyond competition, the league stood as a powerful platform of inspiration instilling confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose among young women. The energy and enthusiasm witnessed over the two days reflected a promising future for fencing in North Kashmir, with emerging talent ready to rise to national and international levels.
The successful conduct of the Asmita Fencing League not only strengthened the foundation of the sport in the region but also reinforced a larger message that with the right opportunities and support, women can break barriers and excel in every arena.
