
Imphal, Mar 10: In a series of events across Manipur, the AssamRifles and IndianArmy under SpearCorps marked InternationalWomensDay with programmes aimed at empowering women and promoting community welfare.
The celebrations included a Self-Defence Workshop at Kotlen, designed to equip women with practical skills for personal safety and confidence-building. Participants learned basic techniques in self-protection and strategies to handle challenging situations.
In addition, a Medical Camp was organized at Maram, providing free health check-ups, consultations, and essential medical services to local residents. A Health Awareness Drive at Masimpur focused on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and hygiene practices, raising awareness among women about maintaining physical and mental well-being.
The day also witnessed the inauguration of a Community Centre at N Gangpijang Village, Tamenglong district. The centre is expected to serve as a hub for educational, cultural, and vocational activities, supporting the local community, especially women and youth.
Through these initiatives, the Assam Rifles and Indian Army reinforced their commitment to social development, women empowerment, and improving the quality of life in remote areas of Manipur.
