Kohima, ,Aug 6: Reinforcing its commitment to community development and youth empowerment, the Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, organised a series of welfare initiatives across Nagaland, focusing on education, sports and social development under Operation Sadbhavana.

As part of the outreach programme, a Library-cum-Tuition Centre was inaugurated at Noklak village in Noklak district, providing students with a dedicated space for learning, academic support and self-study.
Officials said the new facility has been established to promote quality education by offering students access to reading material, study resources and a conducive environment for academic growth. The centre is also expected to serve as a hub for tuition classes and educational activities, particularly benefiting students from remote areas with limited educational infrastructure.
The inauguration was attended by local residents, community leaders, students and Assam Rifles personnel, who highlighted the importance of education in shaping the future of the region's youth.
In another initiative, the Assam Rifles distributed sports equipment among the youth of Pungro in Kiphire district to encourage greater participation in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle.
The sports kits were handed over to local youth groups with the objective of nurturing sporting talent, promoting teamwork and creating constructive avenues for young people to channel their energy.
Officials said such initiatives play a vital role in keeping youth positively engaged while fostering discipline, confidence and leadership qualities.
The programmes also provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction between security personnel and local communities, further strengthening mutual trust and cooperation.
According to the Assam Rifles, these initiatives are part of its sustained efforts under Operation Sadbhavana to promote education, encourage youth development and contribute to the overall socio-economic progress of remote border areas.
The force reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local communities through developmental and humanitarian initiatives aimed at building a brighter and more self-reliant future for the people of the Northeast.
