Kohima, Dec 28: Assam Rifles under SpearCorps constructed a 25,000 litre water storage tank at Mitelephe Village in Kohima district, Nagaland on 26 December 2025 as part of Operation SADBHAVANA, aimed at addressing water scarcity and improving access to safe drinking water in remote areas. The new tank will help villagers secure a reliable water supply, particularly during dry seasons when shortages often affect daily life and livelihoods.
Operation SADBHAVANA initiatives regularly focus on enhancing quality of life in the North East through infrastructure projects, welfare activities, and civic action programmes that support community development. Assam Rifles’ efforts, such as constructing water storage tanks and improving basic amenities, demonstrate its sustained commitment to the socio economic upliftment of local communities.
Local residents welcomed the project, noting that access to reliable, clean water will reduce hardship, especially for women and children who often bear the burden of fetching water. Officials said the new facility underscores Assam Rifles’ role not only in security operations but also in strengthening the trust and partnership between the force and the people of Nagaland under the “Friends of the North East” initiative.
