Kohima, Dec 31: The long-awaited Cadre Review of Assam Rifles has finally received official approval, bringing significant relief and clarity to personnel regarding promotions and career progression. The implementation of the review is expected to streamline the promotion process, particularly for Tradesmen, who have been prioritized at the earliest stage following recommendations to senior authorities.

Under the revised cadre structure, around 223 additional vacancies for the ranks of Subedar and Naib Subedar have been created. If these vacancies are allocated efficiently across various units, they are expected to substantially reduce the promotion waiting period, potentially by 2–3 years. This development is being widely regarded as a morale booster for the force, as it rewards service and dedication while providing a clearer career trajectory for personnel.
Officials noted that the Cadre Review not only addresses longstanding structural issues but also reinforces the Assam Rifles’ commitment to fairness and operational efficiency.
