Kohima, Mar 25: On 24 March 2026, the AssamRifles celebrated its 191st Raising Day, honoring over a century and nine decades of dedicated service as the “Sentinels of the North East.” The occasion paid heartfelt tribute to the brave personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, acknowledging their courage, valour, and unwavering commitment to the nation.

Ceremonies were held across multiple formations in the North East, featuring wreath-laying at memorials, parades, and flag-hoisting events. Senior officers highlighted the Assam Rifles’ enduring role in maintaining peace and security in the region, conducting counter-insurgency operations, and providing humanitarian assistance during natural disasters.
Officials and veterans reflected on the Force’s legacy of resilience, selfless service, and community engagement, emphasizing that its ethos continues to inspire newer generations of personnel. Local communities and families of martyrs were also involved in the commemorations, reinforcing the strong bond between the Force and the people of the North East.
The celebration underscored Assam Rifles’ commitment to safeguarding the nation while fostering development, stability, and harmony in one of India’s most strategic and challenging regions.
