Assam Rifles completes tailoring training for widows

Ukhrul, Feb 5: Assam Rifles under Spear Corps successfully concluded a vocational tailoring training programme for widows of ex-servicemen in Ukhrul District, aimed at empowering participants with skills for self-reliance and livelihood generation.

The programme focused on practical training in tailoring, garment making, and design techniques, enabling the widows to develop professional expertise in the textile sector. Trainers provided hands-on guidance, helping participants gain confidence and competence to pursue income-generating opportunities independently.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the commanding officer highlighted the initiative as part of Assam Rifles’ broader efforts to support ex-servicemen families and strengthen community welfare. The programme is expected to enhance the economic independence of participants and improve their quality of life.
Widows expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the skills acquired will allow them to sustain themselves and contribute to their families, fostering dignity and empowerment. The initiative reinforces Assam Rifles’ commitment to social responsibility while promoting skill development in remote areas of Manipur.
