Noney, Mar 14: The Assam Rifles organised an awareness lecture on “Say No to Tobacco and Drugs” at Charoi Chagotlong High School, Tupul, in Noney, Manipur on March 13, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and community welfare.
The lecture focused on educating students about the harmful effects of tobacco and drug abuse, aiming to curb the rising trend of substance use among youths. A total of 42 students and three teachers attended the event, participating actively in discussions on the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug consumption.
At the conclusion of the lecture, all students took a pledge to abstain from using drugs and tobacco and committed to spreading awareness among peers and the wider community. The initiative is part of the Assam Rifles’ broader community outreach programme, which seeks to foster healthy habits, resilience, and responsible citizenship among young people in remote and vulnerable regions.
Officials highlighted that such programmes are critical in creating drug-free environments, empowering students with knowledge, and encouraging proactive participation in health and wellness campaigns. The event reinforced the importance of early intervention and community-driven efforts to prevent substance abuse among youth.
