November 30, 2025 | BK News Service

Jalukie, Nov 29: Assam Rifles, under Spear Corps, successfully conducted a two-day workshop on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and emerging drone technology at the Drone Training Node, Jalukie, Nagaland. The initiative was organised in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Nagaland, reflecting a strong partnership between the armed forces and academic institutions to advance technical skills and operational readiness.

The workshop brought together personnel from multiple Assam Rifles units, providing them with hands-on training and in-depth exposure to the latest developments in drone technology. Sessions included detailed lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises covering UAS operation, aerial surveillance techniques, drone navigation, payload management, safety protocols, and emerging research in autonomous and semi-autonomous UAV systems.
Experts from NIT Nagaland guided the participants through the scientific principles underlying drone systems, data acquisition, and analysis, helping them understand the application of drones in real-world scenarios such as border security, reconnaissance, disaster management, and search-and-rescue operations. Participants were also briefed on legal frameworks, ethical considerations, and maintenance protocols essential for the safe and efficient deployment of UAS technology.
The interactive nature of the workshop enabled Assam Rifles personnel to actively engage with instructors, exchange operational experiences, and clarify technical queries, enhancing both their theoretical knowledge and practical proficiency. The sessions emphasized leveraging emerging technologies to strengthen situational awareness and improve mission effectiveness in diverse operational environments, particularly in remote and difficult terrains of Northeast India.
Officials highlighted that such workshops are part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to integrate advanced technologies into operational planning and capacity building. By equipping personnel with modern skills, the force aims to enhance its intelligence-gathering, surveillance capabilities, and rapid response effectiveness while maintaining a strong technological edge.
The successful conclusion of the workshop marked a significant step in Assam Rifles’ commitment to professional development, innovation, and continuous learning, ensuring that personnel remain prepared to meet evolving operational challenges with expertise and confidence.
