Assam Rifles deepens community outreach in Nagaland

September 01, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Kohima, Aug 31: Assam Rifles has intensified its community outreach efforts across Khezakheno, Zuketsa, Mesulumi, Zelome and Pfutseromi in Nagaland, engaging village leaders and community stakeholders as part of its continued efforts to strengthen people-centric engagement.

As part of the initiative, personnel at Khezakheno facilitated a health check-up for 101-year-old Ex-Serviceman Rifleman Ngolo of the 19 Assam Regiment, acknowledging the contribution and service of a veteran while ensuring access to medical care.
The outreach programme also included medical camps at Mesulumi, Zelome and Pfutseromi, where healthcare assistance was provided to 30, 46 and 30 people, respectively. The camps enabled residents to access basic medical support closer to their homes and provided an opportunity for personnel to interact directly with local communities.
Beyond healthcare, the engagement focused on strengthening communication with village leaders and community representatives. Such interactions allow security personnel to better understand local concerns, community requirements and emerging issues while fostering trust and cooperation.
The initiative reflects the Assam Rifles’ broader emphasis on community-oriented engagement in the Northeast, where sustained interaction with local populations forms an important component of its outreach activities.
The participation of village leaders and other stakeholders also reinforced the importance of collaboration between security forces and communities in addressing local needs and promoting a sense of partnership.
The Assam Rifles said the initiative reflected its commitment to listening, caring and serving communities with compassion, while reaffirming its continuing efforts to remain closely connected with the people it serves.
Through such health and community outreach programmes, the force continues to combine its security responsibilities with humanitarian engagement, strengthening bonds with communities across Nagaland
