Assam Rifles DG reviews operational readiness in Churachandpur

Imphal, Aug 27: Director General Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, visited an Assam Rifles battalion at Veng in Churachandpur, Manipur, on Thursday and reviewed its operational preparedness, deployment and ongoing activities.

Lt Gen Lakhera was accompanied by Maj Gen Gaurav Sharma, SC, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) during the visit.
The Director General was briefed by the battalion Commandant on the prevailing operational situation, deployment pattern, preparedness and various activities being undertaken by the unit. The briefing covered the unit's readiness to respond to emerging security requirements and maintain effective operational vigilance in its area of responsibility.
Lt Gen Lakhera also interacted with the troops and appreciated their high morale, professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty. He commended the personnel for maintaining a high degree of operational preparedness and alertness while carrying out their responsibilities in challenging circumstances.
The Director General particularly appreciated the strong bonds maintained by the troops with the local population, emphasising the importance of community engagement in strengthening confidence and cooperation between the security forces and residents.
He exhorted all ranks to remain vigilant and alert and maintain the highest standards of operational readiness. He stressed that sustained professionalism, discipline and preparedness remain essential for effectively meeting emerging challenges and ensuring security in the region.
The visit provided an opportunity for the senior leadership to assess the unit's preparedness at the ground level and interact directly with personnel deployed in the area.
Lt Gen Lakhera's interaction with the troops also served to acknowledge their efforts and reinforce the force's focus on maintaining high operational standards, discipline and commitment to duty.
The visit concluded with the Director General reiterating the need for continued vigilance, professional excellence and close engagement with the local populace while carrying out operational responsibilities.
