New Delhi, Dec 30: Brigadier Puspendar Sorayan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of HQ 23 Sector, Assam Rifles, called on Governor General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), at Lok Bhavan today.

The meeting was a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening the coordination between the Assam Rifles administration in matters of security, civic engagement, and welfare initiatives for local communities in the region. During the interaction, Brig Sorayan briefed the Governor on ongoing operations, border management measures, and initiatives undertaken by the Assam Rifles to ensure safety and stability in sensitive border areas under their jurisdiction.
Governor Dr. Singh lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles in maintaining peace, assisting civil authorities, and supporting developmental activities in remote and border regions. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between security forces and local administration to foster trust, enhance public safety, and promote the socio-economic development of communities living in frontier areas.
Both leaders also discussed strategies for community outreach programs, including health camps, skill development initiatives, and awareness drives, which have been conducted by Assam Rifles in partnership with local authorities. The Governor appreciated the proactive measures taken by the forces to engage positively with residents, thereby contributing to stronger civil-military relations in the region.
