Ukhrul, Feb 11: As part of its ongoing community engagement initiatives under OperationSadbhavna, the Assam Rifles, operating under #SpearCorps, organized a distribution drive at educational institutions in Ukhrul district, Manipur, aimed at enhancing learning facilities for students.
The event took place at Eklavya Model Residential School, Tharang, New Tusom School, and Tusom CV Upper Primary School, where Assam Rifles personnel handed over essential classroom furniture and educational supplies, including chairs with writing bases and stationery items. The initiative was conducted in close coordination with school authorities and local community leaders.
Speaking at the event, officials highlighted that such interventions are part of the Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to holistic development and welfare of local communities, particularly in remote and tribal areas. By providing ergonomic seating and necessary stationery, the initiative aims to improve classroom comfort, encourage regular attendance, and foster an environment conducive to learning.
The distribution drive was attended by village elders, school staff, and students, who expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their support. Community representatives lauded the effort, noting that such contributions help bridge gaps in educational infrastructure in remote areas where resources are limited.
The Assam Rifles emphasized that #OperationSadbhavna extends beyond security duties, aiming to strengthen civil-military relations and contribute to sustainable development initiatives across the Northeast. Officials also encouraged students to make the best use of the facilities provided and pursue academic excellence, while highlighting the role of education in empowering the region’s youth and fostering socio-economic growth.
Through these community-centric measures, the Assam Rifles continues to play a dual role in the region: ensuring security while also promoting developmental initiatives that uplift local populations, particularly in the domains of education, health, and infrastructure.
