Ukhrul, Manipur | Sep 14: On the occasion of World First Aid Day, the Shangshak Battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a vital First Aid and CPR training workshop for the residents of Shangshak village in Ukhrul district, Manipur.
Organized on September 13, the workshop aimed to empower local villagers with essential lifesaving techniques and promote community preparedness in handling emergencies. A specialized medical team from the Assam Rifles led the session, offering practical demonstrations and hands-on training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wound management, choking relief, and other critical first aid responses.
The initiative saw active participation from villagers across age groups, who welcomed the opportunity to learn crucial health and safety measures that could prove life-saving in remote areas where immediate medical assistance is often limited.
Speaking at the event, the Assam Rifles team emphasized the importance of community-level awareness and basic emergency response knowledge, particularly in regions prone to natural disasters and limited healthcare infrastructure.
“Empowering people with these skills not only saves lives but also strengthens the resilience of the entire community,” said one of the instructors from the Assam Rifles medical unit.
The villagers expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their continued efforts in not just ensuring security but also improving the quality of life through such humanitarian outreach programs.
This initiative aligns with Assam Rifles’ broader mission of "Friends of the North East", reaffirming its commitment to fostering trust, cooperation, and development across local communities in the region.
