Ukhrul, , Mar 17: The Assam Rifles organised an extensive outreach programme at the Company Operating Base (COB) in Ukhrul, fostering dialogue with the veteran community. The event was attended by the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) along with senior officials, providing a structured platform for interaction with Ex-Servicemen (ESM) from the region.
A total of 32 veterans, representing both the Indian Army and Assam Rifles from Ukhrul and neighbouring villages, took part in the programme. The session focused on addressing welfare concerns, sharing updates on benefits and schemes, and strengthening bonds between serving personnel and retired forces.
The interaction also highlighted the role of ESMs as mentors and community leaders, encouraging them to participate in local initiatives and contribute to social development. Officials emphasised continued engagement with veterans to recognise their service, address grievances, and ensure they remain an integral part of the defence fraternity.
The outreach reflects Assam Rifles’ commitment to maintaining close ties with its veteran community while promoting mutual understanding, camaraderie, and continued support for those who have served the nation.
