Imphal, Aug 13: The Assam Rifles observed International Youth Day 2026 across Manipur through a series of youth engagement, career guidance and creative activities aimed at empowering young people and strengthening their connection with national service and constructive community participation.

Held on August 12 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” the initiatives also built momentum towards the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
At Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Veng, the Assam Rifles conducted a Join Indian Army and Leadership Session for around 350 students. The interaction focused on opportunities in the Indian Army, eligibility criteria, entry schemes, training pathways and the values of discipline, leadership and service.
Students were also briefed about the demands and opportunities associated with a career in the armed forces, encouraging them to make informed choices about their future.
At Kha Manipur College, Kakching, a Territorial Army Awareness Programme was organised for nearly 250 NCC cadets. The session provided participants with an overview of the Territorial Army, its organisational structure, role and various avenues for joining the force.
The programme aimed to familiarise NCC cadets with opportunities for contributing to national service while pursuing their professional careers.
Alongside career-oriented initiatives, the Assam Rifles organised creative activities to encourage self-expression among children and youth.
An Independence Day-themed painting competition was held at Ichum Kom Primary School, providing young participants an opportunity to express their ideas and patriotic sentiments through art.
In Sangaithel, Imphal West district, COB Longa Koireng organised a drawing competition at Vocational Guide School. The event encouraged children to explore their creativity while providing a positive platform for expression and interaction.
The Assam Rifles said the activities reflected its continued focus on youth engagement, leadership development, career awareness and community outreach.
The programmes also provided a platform for students and NCC cadets to interact directly with personnel and gain greater awareness of career opportunities, national service and personal development.
Through such initiatives, the force sought to reinforce the message that despite different circumstances and backgrounds, young people share common aspirations for education, opportunity, achievement and a brighter future.
