Imphal, June 16: The Assam Rifles organised a grand felicitation ceremony at Churachandpur in Manipur on 15 June 2026 to honour two Shaurya Chakra awardees for their exemplary bravery and service in counter-insurgency operations.
The honoured personnel included Subedar P H Moses of 1 Assam Rifles and Havildar Manglemsang Vaiphei of 3 Assam Rifles, both hailing from Churachandpur. The event was attended by around 250 personnel and celebrated their courage, professionalism, and dedication in operational duties.
Subedar Moses was recognised for his exceptional gallantry during an operation on 14 May 2025, where he demonstrated leadership and tactical skill under challenging conditions. Havildar Vaiphei was honoured for his bravery during an encounter near the Indo-Myanmar border on 09 June 2025, during which he engaged armed cadres, eliminating two and injuring another.
The ceremony highlighted their contributions in high-risk counter-insurgency environments and underscored the importance of discipline, teamwork, and operational composure in complex missions.
During an interactive session, both awardees shared their experiences from the field, offering insights into leadership under pressure and the significance of coordination during operations. Their accounts were described as motivational for younger personnel present at the event.
Officials said the felicitation reinforced core values of the Assam Rifles—courage, selfless service, and patriotism—while serving as an inspiration for the next generation of soldiers deployed in sensitive regions.
