
Shillong, Oct 30: The Assam Rifles organised its 15th Samman Samaroh at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (DGAR), Laitkor, Shillong, to honour personnel set to retire on October 31, 2025.
The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, who felicitated 31 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and 48 Other Ranks for their dedicated and selfless service to the nation.
A total of 19 family members from various parts of the country also attended the heartfelt event, which celebrated the invaluable contributions and sacrifices of the retirees and their families in upholding the proud traditions of the “Sentinels of the North East.”
Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Lakhera commended the retiring personnel for their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and courage, noting that their service has been instrumental in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
