Assam Rifles holds key security meet in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, Sep 9: Headquarters 10 Sector Assam Rifles convened a Lead Intelligence Agencies (LIA) meeting in Ukhrul on Wednesday to review the prevailing security situation in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts and strengthen coordination among various security and civil agencies.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and attended by Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul; Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul; representatives of police and intelligence agencies; Commandants; and staff officers.
The forum provided an important platform for participating agencies to assess the prevailing security environment and deliberate upon emerging challenges in the region. Discussions focused on maintaining peace and stability, strengthening information sharing and ensuring effective coordination among agencies operating in the two districts.
The participants also reviewed issues relating to refugees and discussed measures for ensuring effective implementation and enforcement of government directives and orders.
Another key area of deliberation was the need to strengthen action against illegal trade and other activities that could adversely affect security and public order in the region. The agencies discussed coordinated measures to prevent such activities and improve enforcement mechanisms.
The meeting underscored the importance of close inter-agency cooperation in addressing security challenges, particularly in sensitive and strategically important areas. Participants emphasised timely sharing of actionable information, coordinated responses and sustained engagement among civil administration, police, intelligence agencies and security forces.
The LIA meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of all stakeholders towards maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts. It also highlighted the significance of a unified approach in tackling emerging security concerns while ensuring effective implementation of government measures.
The meeting concluded with the participating agencies reiterating their resolve to maintain close coordination and work collectively towards peace, security and stability in the region.
