
Tiruvananthpuram, Jan 21: Assam Rifles successfully conducted an outreach drive in Tiruvananthpuram, Kerala, on January 20, 2026, engaging actively with the veteran community to address their welfare needs and concerns.
During the event, 44 grievances were received from veterans and their families. Of these, 28 were resolved on the spot, while the remaining 16 are being pursued for early redressal. The drive also included a free medical camp, where 22 beneficiaries received health check-ups and medicines. Additionally, 45 new Ex-Servicemen were registered on the Sampark Setu App, a platform designed to facilitate welfare services and communication.
Representatives from HQ DGAR delivered an informative lecture highlighting various welfare initiatives, schemes, and policies available to veterans and their families. As a mark of respect and recognition, four Veer Naris—women associated with the armed forces—were felicitated during the programme.
Refreshments were provided to all participants. Ex-Servicemen and next of kin expressed heartfelt gratitude to DGAR and the organizing team for their care, concern, and dedicated efforts, emphasizing the importance of such outreach initiatives in strengthening ties with the veteran community.
