Dimapur, Sep 12: In a significant step towards prioritizing the mental health and emotional well-being of its personnel and their families, the Assam Rifles organized a counselling session under the 'Rubaru' initiative across Kohima, Dimapur, and Chumoukedima districts of Nagaland. The event was themed "Mera Wajood – My Identity", focusing on self-awareness, mental strength, and emotional balance within the family structure.
The session created a safe and inclusive environment for the families of Assam Rifles personnel to share their thoughts, challenges, and emotional concerns—an aspect often overlooked in the high-pressure life of armed forces families. It was facilitated by a professional psychological counsellor, who offered expert guidance on topics ranging from emotional resilience, parenting stress, and communication gaps to maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions, exploring ways to manage anxiety, strengthen family bonds, and develop a better understanding of personal identity amidst the unique circumstances of a military lifestyle.
An Assam Rifles spokesperson said, “The Rubaru initiative reflects our deep commitment to the well-being of our personnel and their loved ones. By addressing emotional health proactively, we aim to build stronger, more resilient families who are the backbone of our force.”
Families expressed their appreciation for the platform, calling it a much-needed space for emotional expression and healing. Many also highlighted how such sessions empower them to better support their partners in uniform while also caring for their own mental health.
The Rubaru initiative is a part of Assam Rifles’ broader strategy to promote mental wellness, gender sensitivity, and family support systems, recognizing the vital role that psychological health plays in the overall effectiveness and morale of the force.
Through such progressive efforts, the Assam Rifles continues to lead by example, not only as the “Sentinels of the North East” but also as champions of holistic welfare for the forces and their families.
