Shillong, Jan 27: Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, felicitated 156 personnel during a Samman Samaroh at DGAR Headquarters, Laitkor, Shillong, in recognition of their selfless service to the nation.

The ceremony honored 2 officers, 73 JCOs, 75 other ranks, and 6 civilian staff who are due to retire on 31 January 2026. 112 family members from across the country attended, making the event a heartfelt celebration of dedication and sacrifice.
During the event, the DG personally interacted with the retirees, presenting mementos and certificates to acknowledge their contributions. The gathering concluded with a group tea session, where attendees shared cherished memories, highlighting a strong sense of camaraderie, pride, and mutual respect among serving and retired personnel.
Officials noted that such events are aimed at honoring the commitment of Assam Rifles personnel, reinforcing the ethos of service and loyalty that defines the paramilitary force.
