Tengnoupal, Sep 7: Assam Rifles conducted a solemn wreath-laying ceremony in Tengnoupal district of Manipur on September 6 to pay tribute to seven brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice during Operation Hifazat on the same day in 1992.

The ceremony commemorated the courage and sacrifice of Lance Naik (Late) Patigan Dhobi, Lance Naik (Late) Keshar Bahadur Khatri, Rifleman (Late) Amarjit Sharma, Rifleman (Late) Khem Singh, Rifleman (Late) Ganesh Gurung, Rifleman (Late) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi and Rifleman (Late) Lal Dev Yadav.
The seven personnel had fought valiantly against insurgents while performing their duties, ultimately laying down their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice remains an enduring reminder of the courage, dedication and commitment displayed by security personnel while serving the nation in challenging operational environments.
