Assam Rifles hosts educational tour for students in Manipur

June 25, 2026 | BK News Service

Pallel, June 24: The Assam Rifles under Spear Corps organized an educational and awareness-focused visit at Pallel Garrison for students and teachers of Senkon Institute, offering them a first-hand experience of military life, communication systems, and regional cultural heritage.

A total of 229 students and 11 teachers participated in the programme, which was designed to provide meaningful exposure to the functioning of the armed forces as well as promote awareness about national service, discipline, and civic responsibility among youth.
A key attraction of the visit was an interactive arms exhibition, where students were introduced to various weapons and equipment used by the Assam Rifles. Personnel explained their operational use, safety protocols, and the role of modern defence systems in maintaining security and stability in the region. The session generated significant curiosity among students, who actively engaged with the displays and asked questions about military life and operations.
The educational tour also included a visit to the Community Radio Station “Radio Highway,” where students learned about the role of radio communication in community outreach, information dissemination, and public awareness in remote and border areas. The interaction helped them understand how communication infrastructure supports both civilian and security needs in the region.
In addition, the group visited the Cultural Hall, where they were introduced to the rich regional heritage and traditions of Manipur. The cultural segment aimed to promote awareness of local history, diversity, and the importance of preserving indigenous identity alongside national integration.
Officials stated that such initiatives are part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to strengthen civil-military relations and engage with the youth through educational and motivational outreach programmes. By combining defence awareness with cultural learning, the programme sought to inspire students towards discipline, responsibility, and potential careers in national service.
Teachers accompanying the students appreciated the initiative, noting that the exposure helped broaden students’ understanding of the armed forces and their role beyond security duties, while also encouraging respect for regional culture and community institutions.
The Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to continue conducting such interactive programmes across the Northeast, aimed at nurturing informed, motivated, and socially responsible young citizens.
