Mokokchung, Nagaland, Oct 14: Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, inaugurated the Hav Mering Ao, SC (Retd) Centre of Excellence and Wellness in Mokokchung on October 14, 2025. The centre, established by Assam Rifles in collaboration with NIEDO and Axis Bank, aims to empower youth and strengthen community development through education, skill training, and wellness initiatives.

The opening ceremony, held at the Town Hall, was attended by nearly 800 people, including officials from the District Administration, police personnel, Assam Rifles troops, civil society organizations, ex-servicemen, and students from local educational institutions. Hav Mering Ao, SC (Retd) graced the event, highlighting the centre’s role in promoting holistic growth and opportunities for the community.
The initiative reflects Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to youth development and community welfare in Nagaland, fostering education, skills, and overall well-being.
