Assam Rifles launch tree plantation drive

January 21, 2026 | BK News Service

Langnyok,. Jan 20: In a bid to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development, Assam Rifles organised a Tree Plantation Campaign at Langnyok under the theme “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam”. The campaign saw the planting of 47 saplings, reflecting the unit’s commitment to preserving nature and fostering ecological awareness.

The initiative was symbolic of respect and care for the environment, drawing a parallel between the nurturing qualities of a mother and the life-sustaining role of trees. By linking tree plantation to motherhood, the campaign sought to inspire a sense of responsibility and stewardship towards the environment among participants and the local community.
Assam Rifles personnel actively participated in planting the saplings, ensuring proper spacing and alignment to facilitate healthy growth. The exercise also included awareness sessions on the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, combating climate change, and supporting local biodiversity.
Through this campaign, Assam Rifles reinforced its ongoing commitment to green initiatives and ecological responsibility, aiming to encourage sustainable practices within and beyond the organisation. The effort not only contributed to the greenery of Langnyok but also served as a reminder of the critical role every individual plays in protecting the environment for future generations.
This tree plantation drive forms part of a broader set of initiatives by Assam Rifles to promote environmental consciousness and support national efforts towards a cleaner, greener India.
