As part of its continued efforts to prioritize the mental and emotional well-being of its personnel and their families, the Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), Kohima, conducted a comprehensive orientation and ice-breaking session for Project Rubaru on August 19, 2025.
The programme, held simultaneously at HQ IGAR (North) and its three sector headquarters, was facilitated by trained psychologists and mental health professionals. These experts introduced the participants to the core objectives of Project Rubaru — an initiative aimed at promoting mental wellness, emotional resilience, and open dialogue within the Assam Rifles community.
The psychologists emphasized the equal importance of mental health alongside physical fitness in ensuring operational effectiveness and overall well-being. They engaged with soldiers and families, encouraging honest conversations about mental health challenges and breaking down the stigma surrounding psychological support.
The interactive nature of the session fostered a safe and open environment. Families participated enthusiastically, asking questions, sharing concerns, and exploring coping strategies. The positive engagement demonstrated a growing awareness and readiness within the force to address emotional well-being as an essential component of a healthy life.
Officials stated that this orientation laid a strong foundation for the upcoming activities under Project Rubaru and affirmed the Assam Rifles' commitment to the holistic welfare of its personnel and their loved ones. The project will continue with a series of workshops, counselling sessions, and community-building activities across formations.
