Assam Rifles lights up remote Manipur villages

October 24, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Manipur, Oct 23: Assam Rifles distributed solar lights among residents of Nungba and Thoudaijang villages in Manipur, aiming to improve access to lighting, enhance safety after dark and support the quality of life in remote areas.

The initiative was undertaken as part of the force’s community welfare efforts, with a focus on addressing basic infrastructure needs and extending support to people living in areas with limited access to essential facilities.
The distribution of solar lights is expected to help residents carry out routine activities after sunset and facilitate safer movement during night hours. The initiative also highlights the potential of solar-powered lighting in improving access to energy in remote and underserved villages.
For communities where conventional electricity infrastructure may be limited or unreliable, solar lights can provide a practical and sustainable source of illumination. Their use can also help reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and contribute to environmentally friendly development.
Assam Rifles’ outreach reflects its continued commitment to rural development and community-oriented initiatives in Manipur. Such efforts are aimed at addressing local needs while fostering cooperation and goodwill between security forces and residents.
The initiative also underscores the importance of sustained engagement with local communities in improving living conditions and strengthening trust.
Through these welfare activities, Assam Rifles continues to support the development of remote areas and reinforce its bond with the people of Manipur.
