November 09, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Bishnupur, Nov 8: Assam Rifles commemorated six years of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at Irengbam village in Manipur's Bishnupur district on November 6, organising a community awareness programme to highlight the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.

The programme brought together 15 local villagers, providing a platform to discuss the growing concerns surrounding substance abuse and the importance of collective efforts to prevent drug addiction.
During the interaction, participants emphasised the need for early prevention, greater awareness among young people and active involvement of families in identifying and addressing the risks associated with drug abuse.
The discussions highlighted that families play a crucial role in protecting children and adolescents from substance abuse by maintaining open communication, providing emotional support and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Participants also stressed the importance of community participation in addressing the drug menace, observing that awareness at the village level can contribute significantly towards preventing addiction and protecting future generations.
The programme reiterated the message, "Say YES to Life, Say NO to Drugs," encouraging individuals, particularly the youth, to make responsible choices and stay away from harmful substances.
The initiative formed part of Assam Rifles' continued community outreach efforts aimed at promoting social awareness, public well-being and a healthier environment in the Northeast.
Through such engagements, Assam Rifles seeks to encourage local communities to actively participate in the fight against substance abuse and strengthen collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.
