
Aizawl, July 7: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP), celebrated the 52nd MHIP Day at Vensang in Champhai district of Mizoram, reaffirming its commitment to women's empowerment and community development.
The programme, held on July 6, brought together members of the MHIP, local residents, community leaders and Assam Rifles personnel to commemorate the occasion under the motto "Helping Others."
As part of the celebrations, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on women empowerment, highlighting the importance of gender equality, education, leadership and self-reliance. The session encouraged women to actively participate in community development, social welfare initiatives and nation-building efforts.
Officials stressed that empowering women through education, awareness and leadership opportunities is essential for building stronger and more inclusive communities.
The event also featured a series of cultural performances by local artists, showcasing Mizoram's rich cultural heritage and adding colour to the celebrations.
Participants appreciated the initiative taken by the Assam Rifles and lauded its continued efforts to engage with local communities beyond its security role. They noted that such programmes foster awareness, strengthen community ties and inspire women to play a greater role in shaping society.
